Assumption of Risk
Basketball is a contact sport. Playing in it carries a real risk of injury, including serious injury, no matter how carefully a game is run or officiated. By registering and taking part, a team and its players accept that risk.
Release of Liability
By registering, the team, its coaches, its players, and each player's parent or guardian release SPARK Youth Development, Inc., its board, staff, volunteers, sponsors, venues, and partners from claims arising out of participation in the event, to the extent allowed under Indiana law.
Emergency Medical Care
If a player is injured and a parent or guardian cannot be reached, SPARK and its volunteers may arrange emergency medical care on the family's behalf. Any cost of that care is the family's responsibility.
Coach's Affirmation
By registering a team, the coach confirms that a parent or guardian of every player under 18 has signed, or will sign before that player's first game, the separate player consent form SPARK collects for the roster.
Conduct and Removal
Unsafe or abusive conduct by a player, coach, or team representative can end that team's participation in the event. A team removed for this reason is not entitled to a refund.
Insurance
SPARK does not provide medical or accident insurance for participants. Families are responsible for their own coverage.
